Tale Of 12 Marketers

20 July, 2006 (10:12) | Archives | By: Earl J

About a month ago I sent out a mass email on one of my forums offering a chance for 12 people to use our proprietary mass blogging software. Basically, it’s a piece of software that sets up blogs for you and gets them posting great content automatically, fully automated..

When I say fully automated, I mean FULLY AUTOMATED!! Once you get the software setup on a site all you have to do is tell the blog platform how many blogs you want and hit “Go”. Well, within reason anyway, it depends on how fast your server is, usually I’ll create 9-20 at a whack but you can sit there and build blogs until the cows come home and it will load up you site with blogs.

The software itself is really nothing to look at, actually it’s pretty ugly but works great.

The reason that we offered this little test was to see if it would work on 10 or 12 different server configurations. It’s a bit tricky to setup (takes me about 15 minutes now, max) so I even decided to set it up for every single person in our test group. Out of 12 people I got 11 of them set up, one never got setup because of problems with the server but overall it worked pretty good and it would work as a product to sell if we wanted to.

I asked only 2 things of the group:

1-Design a homepage and one other page for your site before creating a bunch of blogs

2-Setup a chron job to run the autoposter and create a few blogs (after all, all you have to do is click a button :-) )

Simple huh?

The results were good as far as the software goes, 100% of the people who followed my instructions had their sites indexed right away. One of them was indexed in 2 days! A few of the people just setup the chron job and created a few blogs (4 or 5) and didn’t do a homepage but their sites still got indexed! The few people that setup the sites and created a decent amount of blogs have 80-90 pages in Yahoo and Google both.

One of the guys has 478 pages in Google now and 1378 in Yahoo as of right now.

What amazed me, frankly, was the lack of action taken by some of the folks. Seriously, the absolute most that you would have had to work is 2 hours total and you would have a great blog network going, with backlinks galore. If you already had a template to use you could have had the site looking nice in 30 minutes or less.

The one thing that is a unknown to every marketer who sells info products is this:

“How much WORK do people actually put into using a system before reviewing it or yapping in a negative manner on a forum?”

Let me answer that for you, very little.

Here in this example I did nearly 95% of the work required, and most of the folks STILL didn’t work it! Which is perplexing to say the least.

Some had great results, some had no results, but ALL of the results were the result of the work (or lack of work) that the people put into the little experiment. A few of the people are making money with the sites already, 90% of them aren’t.

Every person who puts out a product wants their customers to be successful using it. It’s good for you as a marketer when people have a favorable review of your products, great for referrals, great for recruiting affiliates. However, what you never know as a product creator is how much effort the people who are using your system are putting into it.

I mean people SAY they tried products, and they SAY that they worked the system, but the fact of the matter is you (as a product creator) never know for sure.

People whine about high priced items, just visit any marketing forum, but the fact of the matter is: the more that an item costs the more likely the person who purchases it will put some elbow grease into using it and get some good results.

One thing is for sure, it’s said that the quickest path to misery is “To try and please everyone..” That my friend is a true statement!!

Stay tuned if you want to be notified when the blog software is released!

Peace..
